Live
Sound
I have been
working
as a live sound
engineer since I was 18
years old. Thats 18 years ago now, so basically
half my life!
During that time I have mic'ed everything from a full symphony
orchestra to Rolf Harris's didgeridoo, with of course countless drum
kits and guitar amplifiers along the way.
Touring
I have toured with a few different bands, most
recently Hercules
and Love Affair
with whom I toured for the last 6 months of 2008, round Europe, Eastern
Europe, Scandinavia and Australia. I started off as their monitor
engineer, but only lasted a couple of weeks before being promoted to
front-of-house...
House
Engineering
I was the original house engineer at The Boardwalk
many years
ago. More recently I spent 18 months as house engineer and system tech
for The Plug.
These days you
are more likely to see me at the Sheffield Academy
or The Leadmill.
Front of House or
Monitors, Digital or
Analogue.
I can handle all of it. I have used all the
usual
models of
digital or
analog console, and while I may have my preferences, I can work with
whatever I'm given.
Likewise I take equal care over mixing monitors as I do front-of-house,
and consider it to be just as responsible a job. Actually, I think the
two are more related than many people realise: a good stage sound will
result in less messy spill on the mics, and consequently a better
front-of-house sound. Likewise, a good front-of-house mix will make
things clearer on stage, so the monitors need not be so loud and
everyone hears better.
So, whether you are a venue needing an experienced house engineer, or a
band wanting a consistent sound every night, get
in touch. |
