The preview video below is the first 4 1/2 minutes of the video. It explains the basic concept behind additive synthesis, and demonstrates the perfect lack of aliasing in the resulting waveforms:

The full tutorial runs for 30 minutes and covers all aspects of the user interface, using spectrum analysis where appropriate to show the patterns of partials.

  • Basic pitch modulation / Glide / Amp envelope functions.
  • Choosing and modifying basic waveforms.
  • Manipulating partial volumes and pitches using Pattern Masks
  • The Brightness section, and its modulation options.
  • The Periodic Filter section and its modulation options.
  • Spectrum B and Note-Off triggering.
The music featured in the intro and outro sections was created using 16 instances of Lazerbass and no other synths. (I couldn't resist adding the drum loop, as it fitted so well!) The tutorial includes a bank of snapshots with all the sounds I used.
